Amy’s connection with dogs began long before she became a professional trainer. As an only child raised by a single mother, she found companionship and comfort in dogs from an early age. Her first dog, Toby, a Miniature Dachshund, quickly became more than a pet—he became a constant companion and helped inspire a lifelong appreciation for the bond between people and their dogs.

Her love for animals extended beyond her own home. As a young girl, Amy regularly knocked on doors throughout her neighborhood offering to walk dogs. She was especially drawn to dogs that spent much of their time tied outside to doghouses, hoping to provide them with companionship, exercise, and enrichment whenever she could. Those early experiences helped shape the compassion and dedication that continue to define her work today.

As the years passed, Amy’s experience with dogs expanded well beyond small breeds. She shared her life with a Siberian Husky, a Chocolate Labrador, and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, gaining valuable firsthand experience with dogs that possessed different personalities, energy levels, and training needs. Every dog strengthened her appreciation for the individuality of canine behavior and reinforced her commitment to lifelong learning.
